The Effect of Changing Ore Grade On the Rates of Change in the Productivity of Canadian Mining Industries

CIM Bulletin, 1973

T. A. WEDGE, Assistant to the Executive Vice-President, Teck Corporation Limited, Toronto, Ontario

This paper suggests a crude correction for the impact of raw material quality on factor productivity in the Canadian mining industry. Such a correction would give a figure more dependent on the changing efficiency of the use of labour and capital, and less dependent on the effects of unquantified changes in inputs.
