NIOCALITE is a new mineral species which has been identified in rock from the Oka district, Quebec. It occurs as prismatic crystals up to l 0 mm. in length and 1 mm. in width, in coarse, white, crystalline calcite with associated apatite, diopside, biotite, pyrochlore, and niobian perovskite. The crystals of niocalite are light yellow in colour and have a vitreous lustre.
