The Application of Neutron Activation Analysis to the Determination of Copper in Minerais

An account is given of the application of neutron activation analysis to the rapid, non-destructive determination of copper in minerais, using a 14-MeV neutron source. Elements that interfere in the determination of copper by this method are given, together with the errors in t he estimation of copper t hat result from the presence of varying amounts of these elements. The possible use of a compact "sealed-tube" 14-MeV neutron generator for the field assay of copper in minerais is discussed.
