Tectonic Framework of Palaeozoic Formations in Manitoba
H. R. McCabe Geologist, Manitoba Dept. of Mines and Natural Resources, Winnipeg, 1Mon.
The study of a detailed series of structure and isopach maps of the Palaeozoic strata of southwestern Manitoba indicates that the principal Palaeozoic tectonic elements - the Williston Basin and Elk Point Basin - have been modified to a considerable extent by major tectonic features of the Precambrian basement. The principal basement feature is the break between the Churchill and Superior provinces, which coincides roughly with the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border.
