Recent Developments Roof Bolting and Roof Bolt Installation Procedure

This paper briefly traces the history of roof bolting and the effectiveness of the process, and suggests improved procedures for installing conventional roof bolts. It examines the causes of failure as well as the inherent and, in many cases, unavoidable snags encountered. Tests to justify theoretical conclusions are described. It finally advocates studs instead of bolts and introduces a suitable puller for use with the studs
