This paper discusses the experience of Noranda Mines Limited, Matagami Division, with the vertical crater retreat (VCR) method in the mining of narrow-vein stapes. Although limited to only one slope, the viability of this method at the Radiore No. 2 Mine has proven that further use of VCR in narrow-vein mining will be made.
