Milliken's Two--Stage Sulphuric Acid Leaching Process for Uranium Ores

This paper gives an account of the laboratory testing, plant testing and final inclusion of the two-stage sulphuric acid leaching process in the Milliken mill. Operational results for September, 1962, a re presented, showing a uranium extraction of 95.5 per cent, with a saving of some 16 lbs. of 100 per cent HzSO 4 and some 9 lbs. of lime per ton milled. Methods for effecting further improvements in the process are indicated.
