The paper summarizes a slide presentation made during the CIM Mechanical-Electrical Operators' Conference, held at Sudbury, Ontario, January S5-S7, 1977. Its scope has been limited to a few specific aspects of modern Canadian hoisting plant practice that are likely to be of interest to operating personnel. It is intended to serve as a brief review of established methods, discuss in more detail the present state-of-the-art and suggest trends that will appear as products during the next few years.
