Electrical drive systems for loader shovels

This paper will discuss briefly loader shovel requirements and then present a detailed survey of electrical drive systems to meet these requirements. The survey in general will deal with the various electrical provisions for shovel drives, along with the advantages and disadvantages, and in particular will discuss the MG set and static D. C. drive systems. Also included will be some insight into the requirements for optimum electrical power at the shovels.
