THIS paper constitutes a report from the Committee on Geological Research to the Geology Division of the Institute. Two years have elapsed since a forma! report was made containing several resolutions aimed at assisting geological research, a review of research equipment available, a summary of research projects suggested for consideration, and a list of research then in progress (see July, 1947, bulletin, pp. 351-370).
