Chemical Control of Hydrogen Sulphide During Drill Stem Tests

CIM Bulletin, 1958

A method of applying ammonium hydroxide to a drill stem containing hydrogen sulphide gas and hydrogen- sulphide-bearing oil and water so as to remove the hydrogen sulphide as ammonium sulphide is described. It was concluded that the method allowed trips with drill pipe filled with sour fluids to be made more safely, more rapidly, and more economical!
