Canadian research in the areas of coal exploration, mining and preparation

This paper presents a summary compilation of current Canadian coal research projects in the areas of exploration, mining and preparation. The compilation forms the basis for a review of present operations and technology, and of current research efforts. General research areas, requirements and priorities are suggested along with a discussion on achieving the research goals in terms of funds, facilities and staff. The current level of research funding in these areas is assessed.
