Automatic Ore Hoisting at No. 14 Shaft of McIntyre Porcupine Mines Limited

THE following is a brief description of the method of hoisting ore automatically at the No. 14 shaft of McIntyre Porcupine Mines, Limited, Schumacher, Ontario. All ore and waste below the 3875- ft. level is hoisted up No. 14 shaft from the 7000-ft. level to the 3000- ft. level. Seventy to seventy-five per cent of the mining is done in this area. The shaft consists of four compartments: a manway, a ventilation compartment and two skip compartments.
